MANCLAM B-Movie Poster by Huwman MANCLAM B-Movie Poster by Huwman
It’s estimated that half of all films ever made have been destroyed or their whereabouts are unknown.

All traces of the infamous 1962 monster movie “MANCLAM” were considered lost, until the demolition of an old theatre in central Saskatchewan, Canada brought to light what is believed to be the only surviving poster, seen above, and a battered film canister containing an extended trailer, the restoration of which is nearing completion.

No other footage from this notorious B-movie is known to exist.

Yeah, we have great looking gals. Unfortunately they are covered with 8 layers of thermal clothing for about 11 and a half months of the year!

LOL.  ROFL.
I have a cousin who was a model and she lives in Toronto.  Probably many more relatives I don't know live there, too.  Odd, since the genes on the paternal side are geared to hot climates.

I digress.

Pretty girls. Yeah.  Directing films.  It makes sense.  They go together.

Well, of course. I think all us hetero guys got into the arts at least partially because it attracts the ladies. It sure as heck ain't in it for the huge paycheques! Drawing is great because what other profession (at least non-medical profession) can you sit staring at naked ladies all day while honestly telling your wife that you're working?!

Absolutely.  Freud nailed it.  Fine Art is sublimated sex. Every other kind is simply a cheap, neurotic substitute for it.

This is a HORROR movie? I wish I could watch it. It seems so punny.

Thank you for the fave. Did you watch the "trailer" on YouTube (link above in the description)? The truth is, this faux "trailer" is all that there is. The full movie never actually existed, although some people think I should expand the trailer into a feature length film! I'm working on a different bad movie now though. Anyhow, thank you for your interest!

I love how everyone is smoking including the kid. That cracked me up :D. Smoke 'em if you got 'em! Someone else mentioned that you are the one playing the doctor. You're a pretty decent actor, I must say. Were you nominated for a Clammy?

Both the poster and trailer are fantastic. I love that kind of stuff.

ha, ha. Yep, people love the ridiculous 1950s/60s smoking scene. I like to think I can act certain parts okay but for some reason I don't get cast as the leading man - even when I'm doing the casting! :) I would love a "Clammy"! Stay in touch, man, I can see we share similar mental problems regarding old movies! I'll try to find time to watch that Mano piece of yours soon. Just have to go prepare for a vampire music video shoot right now!

You're correct. I'm cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs when it comes to anything retro, cult or B-movie. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

The real shame is that this film is lost, while we still have the Larry Buchannon remake, "The Snail People"...talk about slow!

This is incredible work! :iconbravoplz:

the poster really captures the spirit of the movie. I was wondering what His feet looked like until I saw the trailer. what does the inside of the clam look like is it muscle like a real clam and if He has eyes do they look like Pearls now?
Awesome Poster by the way.

The whole head is just a shell of cardboard and tape sprayed with a "stone finish" spray paint. I did make a very strong, flexible hinge on the back (from a rubber doormat) since I knew that would be the point where the most wear and tear would occur. The person inside has their head in sort of a large soft foam helmet that is covered with a black stocking material. They can see through this but it renders them almost invisible, especially in low light. The top of the clam shell simply bounces up and down on the top of the foam helmet inside, giving the effect of a masticating action whenever MANCLAM moves. The hands are two bisected and carved styrofoam balls, glued to rubber gloves. These were then spray painted too. The feet are just normal human appendages. I had considered having huge "googly eyes" inside the clam shell but decided that was a bit too much. I wanted the creature to be right on the edge of someone actually thinking MAYBE it was supposed to be taken seriously and the googly eyes would have made it too clearly ridiculous imho. Anyhow, thanks for the fave and for your interest in this stuff!

Ohgod! This is even more scary than the infamous Manladybug VS Ladymanbug! I'm so glad this poster was found, because it's simply beautiful in all it's vintage glorious style and ante-modernist colors. I bow to that and to the glory of nepotism in B-movies :worship:

Wowzers, I LOVE IT!!!! He looks just the way I'd hoped! Bit of a wierd thing to zone in on but I love the way you've done his suit. Makes me think about learning that computer stuff for real myself. Of course now I'm even MORE excited about seeing MANCLAM than I was before. Especially now I've seen your performing skills too ;)
